a folio revisit

As a couple of you may know, I have decided to reapply to the AFI Conservatory in LA. I was accepted last year but I still need to send everything in again...and now I get to re-do my portfolio. What a joy.

I really like the layout and the money shot is "Holy Crappers" worthy.
Can we see more spreads of the project just to see how it moves, though; also, can you give the dimensions to get a sense of scale? I don't like "type"... maybe put a dash beside "book of longing" and have "theatre, set design" then in "year" have "graduate studio, one." I think it will distribute the words out. You could also just have "theatre," then talk about how it is set design in the project paragraph. Your choice. Also, the images on the bottom, well placed and they are a lovely source of materials, but it might be wise to cite them with footnotes and discuss their influence on this project and on you. Are they just visuals that captured you? Maybe a line that says something about them because I recognize the Maya Lin installation. Actually, saw it too, pretty amazing, but just give us something. Doesn't need to be much. The paragraph is nice, but I see "Philip Glass" too much. What if you put his name under professor with "director" and then your role alone is described in more detail. I want to know what you did. What were your influences? How did your vision unite with Mr. Glass? The intro paragraph should be just as grabbing as that beautiful image. Also, if he is mentioned in the paragraph or in the intro credits, you can use his last name without "Philip," same with "Cohen" through out your project spreads. I think that covers it. It looks like a lot; it isn't. The spread looks wonderful. Just little bits. Good luck and show more!!!

this is pretty much me going through the formalities of applying. i called two of the profs from there today and they said i should have no problems getting accepted again. i meet with one of them tomorrow morning to show him my hand drafting, other models, sketches etc.

Well awesome! That is great Kaitlyn! Yeah, if you read it, it is all nit picky stuff because the overall layout is really wonderful. I mean all I talked about really was text, but I don't pay as much attention to text because we have visual degrees... so. But really you should frame that image or something because it is beautiful.

I think that is so amazing. Some of my favorite things I have ever done have been completed in 15 minutes. Good luck and tell us how it goes.
