great opening night! nibbles, booze, music, good vibes. it's such a foreign feeling to have people (strangers) observing your work... which is hanging on a wall... lit. surreal. a highlight was an old catalan man literally with his nose on the piece.
the piece documented 10 days of movement throughout the city. subtractive method on matboard+iodine+acrylic. basically one big experiment. detailed fotos to come!
closing night party with performance pieces this saturday.
qué ilusión!

news ps - news.
vale. so every semester at metáfora, there is an exhibition that the school co-organizes with a gallery in the city. this term, the show is titled "reduce the unnecessary" and it will be held in gràcia in a small gallery called UntitledBCN. there are only 10 slots, so everyone submitted proposals to one of our profs...hungarian diva who normally tain't havin' it...to see who gets in. i got in! so the show, i think, opens 21 noviembre. i will definitely keep everyone updated with the piece, press release, etc... i am still working on the concept/prelim drama. i want to create a large-scale map of my past month in terms of seemingly insignificant experiences in different parts of the city. i guess i concocted the idea when kells and i randomly saw an old man riding nude on a bike in the middle of my quasi family-oriented neighbo(u)rhood. i want these instances (and there be many) to be very small and beautifully illustrated on a large-scale "map". time will tell how this map chooses to represent itself. meanwhile, i'm playing with my walking/train routes this past week. i'm using the red line the most...is that weird? anyone? A Northwest Av.Diagonal Gem.

everytime i run past this particular apartment building, i get an odd feeling Laura Bennett is watching me. probably because she lives in it. [see exterior comparison with her season 3 final collection] that sneaky architectrix.
go take care of your 17 redheaded children.

thank the travel deities!

new terminal T1 complete to further service that modest little coastal community of Barcelona. many of us remember the familiar slipping-on-the-floor/space-frame-bonanza/triangularly-jutting-terminals of the older Prat airport. however, thanks to a nice catalan postmodernist architect's vision, we can land and happily disembark via a silver-clad millennium falcon of a terminal. ¡que todo me vaya bien cuando aterrizo en esa terminal tan desconocida! ¿ya habrán ampliado el metro para que llegue hasta la ciudad?... o por lo menos sants. jeje.
