i think they misunderstand libeskind. as far as the "complexity" comment goes...i don't think he is referring to "let's make this building as complicated as possible" an onion is simple but it has LAYERS. something designed in a simple way does not necessarily lack meaning or sophistication or complexity.
in fact, i would argue that simply sculpted spaces are the most difficult to create because you cannot hide anything. every element has to be in perfect harmony with the rest of the space.

Moral: Don't let anyone screw up your vision. Do what you do, don't do beef-in-a-bag.

also, these people are assuming ALL libeskind buildings are bad. I would agree, he's had some rough spots (Denver anyone). But all-in-all he is good, when given the right client and project.
