i miss the ant races.
i miss the static, like a texture sensationalizing the space between my ears, the upper area of my brain just beneath my skull.
i miss the acceptance of the dull signal, the disjointed, blank-but-full otherness of in-between time.
static is a background, static is a blanket, static is not planning on catching up. static is media that accepted the medium. it's the ant races. static is the coolness we lack, static is music, it's the blanket, static is the lowest note, the stabilizing chord. static is hotness/hypnosis. Static is the same until it lulls/ drones/ emits/ synchronizes/ syncopates alongside a brother static. self-sustaining, not self-conscious, always there but not always seen, the underlying alter-ego, static is what we now seek, what we once ran from.

after spending what feels like forever in a vacuum.... i saw the blog. tear

so i have to write a THESIS this year. my topic is post-disaster REgenerative design: rebuilding after war, terror, mother earth rebelling etc.
i could have easily picked new orleans...
but i am currently researching what would happen if Portland had a major earthquake (predicted to happen now, or now, or now)
all bridges collapsed
2000 buildings downtown in rubble
hundreds sunk into the land from liquefaction
river contaminated with broken oil/gas lines
land slides
river infilled
to use a precedent of how things could go better after they go so wrong
suggestions?

I am also assisting for projections on a museum installation called "Rain After Ash". It is about Craig Arnold, a poet who disappeared after traveling solo to look at a volcano in Japan.

yeah... i did it to emphasize the perspective...these are like sections,
- everything good should work like a sectional perspective yah?
- if it doesn't it sucks, i don't know if i should do the others as triangles or just figure them out intuitively.

- graphic is just what i hate, the over emphasis of positive-negative, figure-ground, subject-object
- over stylized fonts, and forced hierarchies
- insecure messages, desperate for attention
- you can see the insecurity of the designer, "if i don't put enough, you won't look"

coat a city in that and you have the contemporary condition
