Production photo from Elektra. More to come. My camera didn't take the best photos so I'm waiting on the good ones from the production manager.
For this production of Elektra, the design team's goal was to create a world inspired by the 1930s. Research of migrant worker's shacks in the 1930s guided me to this silhouette and choice of materials. The interior of the shack represents an emotional, psychologically disturbing space which is only revealed during the murder of Elektra's mother, Clytemnestra.

The austerity is working. 20 shades of mauve are never a bad idea.
i love that it seems like it's in a black hole. great lighting + dirtontheground. i don't really get the whole formal "line" thing with all the the dirty grity set thing.
the photo probably needs some explanation. the "line" is to set-up for the moment when elektra goes into the shack to kill her mother.
and yes...it is in a void. i like voids.
i wish i had footage of the show. it was highly choreographed. the movement of the chorus (the women lined up) was really fantastic.
